The Willard Library opened in 1885 back in Evansville, Indiana. Stories of other paranormal activity and sightings did not begin to get reported until 1936. A maintenance worker told his companies he was quitting not because of the job itself, it was because he saw what he called the “Grey Lady.” As stated by the employee she seemed to be dressed in garb very similar to when the library opened. Who the Grey Lady has been and remains a puzzle. She’s been caught on camera on more than one occasion. There are claims of cold spots in particular areas of the library in addition to individuals smelling perfume that is not from anyone present. The Grey Lady herself has been seen in the restrooms, near the elevator, as well as the basement.
